Galbanum Essential Oil

Galbanum Essential Oil, Iran (Ferula galbaniflua), the main constituents of Galbanum Essential Oil are cadinene, cadinol, myrcene and pinene.  Galbaniflua oil extracted by steam distillation of the resin obtained from the Galbanum plant, bearing a scientific name Ferula Galbaniflua, which is a native to Iran and some neighbouring countries.

Action:  Galbanum essential oil is anti-infectious, a stimulant, supporting to the kidneys and menstruation, analgesic, and a light antispasmodic.

Traditional Uses:  Mentioned in Egyptian papyri and the Old Testament (Exodus 30:34), Galbanum was esteemed for its medicinal and spiritual properties.  Dioscorides, an ancient Roman historian, records that Galbanum was used for its antispasmodic, diuretic, and pain relieving properties.

Indications:  Abscesses, boils, wounds, inflammation.

Other Uses:  Galbanum oil may also help with acne, asthma, bronchitis, chronic coughs, cramps, cuts, indigestion, muscular aches and pains, nervous tension, poor circulation, rheumatism, scar tisue, stress, and wrinkles.

Application:  Apply topically.  May be added to food or rice milk as a dietary supplement.

Fragrant Influence:  Hamonic and balancing.  It may help increase spiritual awareness and meditation.

Safety Data:  If pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult physician.

Bible Reference:  Exodus 30:34--"And the Lord said unto Moses. Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with  pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight." 

Galbanum Essential Oil, Iran has an odor that is described by experts as "intensely green."  Spicy and herbal, Galbanum has been compared to green peppers and tossed salad. Galbanum is balsamic and has subtle piney notes probably due to the presence of several pinenes.  Accordingly, Galbanum also blends well with pine and evergreens.
