Eucalyptus Essential Oil, China

Eucalyptus Essential Oil, China, (Eucalyptus globulus), has most of the properties of a typical volatitle oil, it is not very popular as an aromatherapy oil as it was little known before a few centuries.  The numerous health benefits of Eucalyptus oil have attracted the attention of the entire world to explore its usage in aromatherapy and as conventional medicine.  Eucalyptus essential oil is obtained from fresh leaves of the evergreen eucalyptus tree.

Eucalyptus essential oil, China, Eucalyptus globulus has a clean camphoraceous scent with nostril opening intensity.  Eucalyptus oil is exceptionally good for blending with other camphor type oils like Rosemary oil.  Eucaluptus oil has a high cineol content and significant amounts of pinene, cymene, phellandrene and terpinene.

Action:  Eucalyptus globulus is mucolytic, antimicrobial, antibacterial, antifungal (candida), antiviral, antiseptic, and is an expectorant.

Traditional Uses:  For centuries, Australian Aborigines used the disinfecting leaves of Eucalyptus globulus to cover wounds.  Shown by laboratory tests to be a powerful antimicrobial agent, it contains a high percentage of eucalyptol (a key ingredient in many antiseptic mouth rinses).  Often used for the respiratory system, Eucalyptus oil has also been investigated for its powerful insect repelient effects (Trigg, 1966).  Eucalyptus trees have been planted throughtout parts of North Africa to successfully block the spread of malaria.  According to Jean Valnet, MD, a solution of 2 percent Eucalyptus oil sprayed in the air will kill 70 percent of airborne staph bacteria.  Some doctors still use solutions of Eucalyptus oil in surgical dressings.  

Indications:  Asthma, candida, coughs, diabetes, herpes, hypoglycemia, lungs, measles, headaches, respiratory infections, sinusitis, shingles, and tuberculosis.

Other Uses:  Eucalyptus oil may be used for aches pains, acne, allergies, arthritis, bronchitis, burns, respiratory infections, cystitis, endometriosis, gonorrhea, inflammation of the ear, eyes, and sinus, and as decongestant.  Eucalyptus globulus is helpful for increasing energy, malaria, rheumatism infections, skin and throat infection sores, ulcers, vaginitis. and wounds.  

Application:  Apply topically, diffuse, or use in a humidifer.  May be added to food or rice milk as a dietary supplement.
