The German Chamomile essential oil is composed of Azulene called Chamazulene, is a very powerful anti inflammatory due to presence of a compound called Azulene. It is nitrogenous compound and is responsible for giving it a characteristic deep blue color. It is widely believed this constituent does not affect the aroma. This essential oil was distilled often in Germany from Hungarian raw materials which may explain the term "German" Chamomile. The unique soil and climate of Bulgaria is known for imparting many of the finest nuances in the Industry (i.e. Lavender, Rose). The odor is intensely sweet, coumarin like, herbal and slightly fruity. The dry out notes are warm and pleasant like sweet tobacco.
Action: German chamomile is sedating, calming, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and a decongestant. German Chamomile supports digestive, liver, and gallbladder function, reduces scarring, and releives allergies.
Traditional Uses: German chamomile has been highly esteemed for over 3,000 years and has been used for many types of skin conditions and stress related complaints.
Indications: Insomnia, nervous tension, stress, bursitis, tendonitis, inflammation, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, acne, liver and gallbladder disease, parasites, and ulcers.
Other Uses: German chamomile is a cleanser of the blood, helps increase liver function and secretion, and supports the pancreas. German chamomile promotes the regeneration of skin and can be used for abscesses, burns, rashes, cuts, and dermatitis. It is also helpful for teething pains, acne, eczema, chronic gastritis, infected nails, cyctitis, inflamed joints, menopausal problems, sores, skin disorders, stress related complaints, toothaches, ulcers, and wounds.
Application: Diffuse, add to food or water as a dietary supplement, or apply topically on location. Among the gentlest oils used aromatherapy, the chamomiles are suitable for use on children.
Fragrant Influence: Dispels anger, stablizes emotions, and help release emotions linked to the past. It may also be used to soothe and clear the mind.
